An event eagerly awaited by the public and the trade press: on 8 December 1982, Mercedes-Benz presented the W201. Marketed as the 190 Saloon, it counts without doubt as one of the most successful models in the history of Mercedes-Benz. Compact dimensions, low weight and increased economy without losing sight of factors such as driving characteristics, safety and reliability: The successful compact-class saloon set standards and, with the models 190 and 190 E, added another main line to the traditional Mercedes-Benz passenger car range. While the Type 190 had a carburettor engine, which had been throttled down from 109 hp to 90 hp by reducing the size of the intake and exhaust ports and using a new camshaft and modified valves, the 190 E featured a newly developed version with petrol injection. The precision model of the top-of-the-line 190 E replicates the original in meticulous detail and will enrich any collection. The model car is not only painted in an authentic colour, but also features a detailed representation of the interior. The doors, bonnet and boot lid of the model can be opened and allow a view into the interior of the car. The miniature model is supplied in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging, which includes a screwdriver for easy removal and a glove to protect against getting fingerprints on the windows and paintwork.
